Sandals Cay, the offshore Island at Sandals Royal Caribbean, will undergo some renovations and refurbishment for a period of approximately 5 weeks commencing 1 September 2008. At this time, it will not be possible to host any events / functions on Sandals Cay. The Royal Thai operation will be temporarily relocated to an area on the mainland during this period.

Sandals to open another Royal Plantation resort in Jamaica

Sandals Resorts will expand its five-star Royal Plantation brand with the 2010 opening of the 130-unit Royal Plantation Dragon Bay in Port Antonio, Jamaica. The opening will follow a $100 million expansion and high-end redevelopment program, scheduled to begin in eight months. Sandals has owned the property and site of the Dragon Bay Hotel for several years. "We were waiting for the right time to begin this project," said Jaime Stewart, managing director of the Royal Plantation brand. "The government, Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett have been anxious to reposition Port Antonio as a high-end tourism destination, and Royal Plantation fits that bill." The property, which Stewart described as "the antithesis of cookie-cutter architecture," will market itself as a spa with a hotel. El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels and Azul Hotels by Karisma launched a "Four Diamond" summer promotion for customers who book a minimum four-night stay by July 9 for stays June 15 to Aug. 31. Under the promotion, guests will receive an upgrade to a suite, a $50 spa credit, a $50 dining credit for a dinner on the beach, a $50 credit for wine purchases and a $50 credit for a tour of Chichen Itza.
