SANDALS GRANDE ST LUCIAN
Recently we visited this lovely resort. We had been to the other Sandals on St Lucia (Halcyon and the Regency) but had never been to the Grande. It is now MY favorite.
What I liked best, was the fact that many of the restaurants, bars/lounges, and shopping were in a “mall-type” area. At the other Sandals, the restaurants, etc. are more spread out and sometimes you feel like you’re taking a hike to get to dinner. Of course, all the “younger” honeymooners wouldn’t mind that physical activity, but as an old married middle aged woman—I’d rather not have to take a journey between the places I drink at, eat at, drink at again, shop at, drink at and eat at again.
The Olde London Pub was a fun place to go—with great drinks and food and music. We also enjoyed Barefoot by the Sea. We usually had a buffet breakfast at Bayside because there was just about anything you wanted there.
Although we did not stay in one, I got to see inside their new Rondoval suites. These suites are totally round and are very elegant and secluded with private pool, whirlpool, and hammock. Other beautiful rooms had direct pool access and patios. Butler service is provided at the higher priced rooms—that “maybe” we’ll go for next time.
The gardens are lovely. The beach is fabulous. There are more water sports at the Grande than at the other Sandals in St Lucia, but of course, guests at one resort can use the facilities of all three.
We arrived at UVF airport which is about 1 ½ hours from the Grande. SLU airport is closer but our flights were better and more direct using UVF.
We did play golf, in the rain, but it was fun anyway. Sandals provides free van service between their three resorts. It is a thirty minute drive between the Grande and the Regency (where the golf course is) and Halcyon is at the mid point (15 minutes to either one of the other resorts).
If I go back to St Lucia—I will return to the Grande.
