Our son and his sweet fiancee were kind enough to invite us to their August wedding at the Regency Sandals Resort in Castries, St. Lucia.
The Regency is a couples-only resort with true tropical beauty at every turn. We began our days on our private patio taking a dip in a private plunge pool while watching boats and cruise ships come into the Castries harbor. Our days were spent at the one of the resort’s three pools, complete with swim-up bars, but I understand that the 9-hole golf course can prove to be quite challenging. Many hours could be spent exploring beautiful exotic grounds, with activities planned throughout the day that catered to most all personal tastes.
Evenings ended with the artistic abilities of local musicians in the Pavilion. Restaurants scattered throughout the resort had a scrumptious variety of choices on the menu and all were superbly prepared. The Neptune quickly became our favorite, but our challenge became trying to fit all of the restaurants into our limited schedule.
We traveled to Soufriere for a day long trip with Son of Man Tours. Jan and Elvis (a different Elvis, but still quite entertaining) showed us a great day that began with an hour long boat ride to Soufriere. We visited a live volcano, waterfall, botanical garden, local gift shop, a mud bath and ended the day snorkeling in sight of the Piton Mountains. The day was action-packed. Our guides provided a great history and showed us present day wonders of the island.
Fayette at Tripguy Travel provided crucial leadership for all of our travel decisions. While we had very limited experience traveling out of the country, Fayette expertly guided us to choices that made the difference in an enjoyable and memorable trip and one filled with doubt and indecision. Having visited St. Lucia herself, Fayette’s knowledge proved invaluable. She made herself available on my schedule, including a last minute panic on my part (thanks again, Fayette!). We will definitely seek her guidance and expertise again should we be traveling in the future.
Of course, the highlight of the week was seeing our son and beautiful new daughter-in-law married. The beach at the Regency proved to be the perfect spot for a magical wedding and reception. The staff handled everything down to the smallest detail to make the ceremony an enchanting time that will always hold an endearing place in our hearts. Weeks later the wedding still brings a heartwarming smile. The only thing we are missing are memories of the stress of a big wedding. The experience of a beach wedding on St. Lucia is something I would wish for anyone looking for something uniquely special for their special day.
